National Social Service Credit Based Education using technology

Think Different - National Social Service Credit Based Education using technology.

This is an idea to inspire, a lot of discussion was made when this was shared in educate girls UNHCR challenge.

EXPLAIN YOUR IDEA

Use Technology to provide education to children : We can give quality education by using the technology and by connecting to the globe, and where ever possible reuse the existing information.Use a common place for school, like temple, church in absence of school.

EDU-VAN for education:Mobile van will contain equipments like Computer,Mobiles,Mobile gadgets like memory card,Mobile/Radio charge outlet which will be used by the teacher and students. The mobile van can reach to the remote place and can be used to teach the students. The recorded media like pdf can be saved in the mobiles so this will serve as a text book for children. Th children can take the mobiles to their home and can learn. The usage of recorder media such as videos from you tube, how stuff works will help the children to learn at faster/own phase. Probably some rights are needed as these materials are been used by an organization. We need not invest a huge amount in mobiles there are many organizations that recycle the mobiles, with advancement in technology probably we can get the recycled mobiles at a cheaper rates, and can have the recorded materials in it. Moreover we need just a device to play media

WHO BENEFITS?

This has to be integrated with the existing UNICEF/UNHCR school kit program-me. There is a concept called magic-bus probably this can be done as an joint venture as well. If a tie is made with GED program, valuable certificates can be given to the student. The students from various schools and colleges can act as the teachers, with some guidance. With proper time zone time table we can achieve.

PROTOTYPE

1)Select 3 school or colleges, that are willing to contribute at teachers through UNICEF volunteers. Give them them accelerated teachers training which some org offers, based on needs for the shortlisted students based on their interest on teaching and academic records.
2)Make a skype arrangement in the school/refugee camp.
3)Use the devices / tablet or recycled devices (needed at large scale for students)/ pre load the content from previous projects/ org like e-limu (kenya) can help / other research can help. http://www.heart-resources.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Educational-Technology-Topic-Guide.pdf?7f51b4
4)Teach the important contents of the subject per day
5)Prepare a check list and see how the children are responding.

6)Identify the senior students from the group to teach, and use them as classroom teachers.

FEEDBACK

Follow the feedback given by UNHCR volunteers and educational experts on this idea:

looking forward for more feedback.

SKILL SHARE (optional)

1)Have a tie up with some schools an colleges
2)Have a tie up so that students who acts as teachers gets NSS / other credits from the university
3)Have a tie up with some university / GED so that the irrespective of the curriculum designed the student gets a proper certificate that he can use it for higher education.

Main challenges in ELearning

1)No of devices to student ratio : Make a collaboration with mobile companies, do a mobile recycle event where people may contribute for the cause and these mobiles can be distributed to more children with a preloaded course materials. Media player and Pdf readers are required.
2)No of teachers to student ratio : Use National social credit scheme, where interested students will be shortlisted by schools and colleges who can take sessions through skype. Then form the teachers from the group.
3)Network challenges : we can address this only by having offline content, alternatively E-Bus can have preloaded contents in the memory card that can be used in the mobile phones.
4)Time for education : make it as a self learning process
5)School Buildings:e-Bus can be the alternative, where lib etc can be created along with a staff. through skype students can get their clarification cleared.
6)Curriculum : major challenge is the curriculum, some countries like kenya has digital content, but not all so please try to have a tie up with org like GED, so that a standard curriculum gets established so that e-learning is not just for knowledge, an equivalent school degree certificated is provided, which helps the student in career.
