     Safety Information

I.        Feminism – Subjects : Introduce a separate Subject on Feminism, could be part of the existing subjects as well, a chapter separately dedicated to women in history, literature, science, sports and current affairs. These chapters should depict the women difficulties faced by a woman to achieve her status, in other words it should show the success stories of the women, and more points needs to be awarded for these chapters as this is an important subject in sculpturing the character of the child.
      
      In today's mechanical world no one has time for others, children tend to learn from others, when they do not get a source to learn, they tend to observe and learn from other sources i.e. media and society, so in case parents are not able to provide ample time for their children, if we can change the perspective of the children about the media and society we can raise them as an better humans.

II.      Social Issues Faced by a woman as a chapter: 

Some of the issues, there are other issues as well which needs to be identified while implementing the idea. 

1. Dowry System Issue
2.  Acid Attack on Woman,
3.  Harassment
4.  Domestic Violence, 
5.  Cyber Bullying,  
6.  Abuse, (Child Abuse, Abuse in other forms)
7.  Blind Traditional faith (Devdasi for e.g.)

We can use media as well for teaching some these subjects, where the thought process can be accelerate. Movies like “Gardens of the Night” DVD version with child lock can be used to teach the children about child abuse. Director “Damian Harris“ is one of the best director who has directs, movies on child abuse like this, there are other specialized directors and documentary filmmakers on specialised topics, we can use their work as an media workshop.

These can be question and answer session or paper along with an assignment which can be any format of the student’s choice, separate chapter could be introduced and the students can be asked to convey their thoughts in their convenient way

1.       Street Play : Which promotes interaction and interest

2.       Painting

3.       Article

4.       Poem

5.       Usual exam type

                               

Remember the intention is to make them to learn and not to teach, unless a child learns there won’t be a change in the society.

Questions and Assignment like

1.       What you did when someone faces above problems?

2.       What steps or suggestion you gave?

3.       How you identified the problem? What steps you did?

4.       Did you have a chat with the elders about it?

5.       Your parents view about this topic and their suggestion.

The aim of having such questionnaire in the assignment so that child thinks more and parents also gets an opportunity to share their experiences.

Finally all-important points from each assignment should be published as an article in school magazines.

III.    Self Defense chapter:
In today world self-defense has become mandatory, you may not be strongly built but you need to safe guard, the best defense is to use what is left with you.
1.       Your voice
2.       Use the technology mobile phones, Alarm based applications available,
3.       Keep pepper spray, chili powder handy, run from the place and be safe till someone
          rescues, probably seek a place where crowd is more or nearby police station.
4.       Keep handy of the entire important phone no,  keep your phone charged every day.
5.       Do not add any unknown friends in social sites.
6.       Be proactive and do not show you are nervous, statistically it’s been said people
          tend to get attacked  when  they are nervous, inform your parents and friend
          when you get into an auto  rickshaw with the details or at  least pretend that you are
          informing them.
7.       Moreover no one is used to harassment and faces it strongly, when have to  
          encounter so keep practicing  with your friends, voluntarily in the classes and
          conduct this as a street play through the school authorities  so  the public will
          also get an exposure.

Note: When i mention education, it is formal education, but still there are lot of  children, out of the  school, so in order to give them knowledge we need to conduct some sessions like puppet shows, street plays through NSS (college students) via panchayat system, so every one gets the awareness, use of media, as well unavoidable but if there is a challenge in implementing them. Panchayath can be used.
